2014 Race Report
After a foggy start the sun shone for 80 runners who ran the Wingerworth Wobble route today. A big thank you must go to Mr Soar for the use of Deer Park School as race HQ and the PTA for serving refreshments. The Wingerworth Wobblers worked well preparing the course and coercing friends/family to help marshal assisted by kind landowners opening up gates and clearing fields of livestock.
NDRC runners were well represented, Martin Dawson being the first back and taking the winners trophy this year in 30 minutes 35 seconds. Many of the NDRC members lent their support by marshaling/ time keeping – this was invaluable today and much appreciated. Tim Elkington retained his 1st local male trophy, 6th overall in a time of 34.58
Christine Howard was 14th overall and first lady back in a time of 37.14. First local female this year was Eleanor Scriven in 48th and a time of 45.04 followed closely by last year local lady winner Lucy Bacon. Our oldest competitor in the Wobble this year was Jim Titterton (only by 18 months) retaining his trophy in an impressive time of 46.25.
We had some great fancy dress costumes on display by the runners from Ripley RC in honor of Esther Broughton’s birthday the following day. Esther used her Wonder Woman powers to finish 25th in a cracking time of 40.09 . The pictures can be viewed on www.davidjcarrphotography.co.uk. Many thanks to David for once again taking amazing pictures. We hope you all enjoyed running the Wobble course, even the small slope at the end! Thank you for your support of this local race and we hope to see you next year.
